Thank you for your
interest in volunteering . . .
The need is great and there are
many unique ways to help!
Please take a few moments to watch our Lifting Up Westchester Video—a useful tool for helping you choose the best volunteer opportunity for yourself, your family or your organization. This video is helping people like you open their own unique dialogue around community service and how to best help Lifting Up Westchester—while fulfilling the desire to make a difference.
Organize a food drive to help provide essential canned goods and paper goods. E.g., canned vegetables, starches, condiments.
Other items needed include: travel-sized toiletries, new hats, gloves and scarves for the colder months (gently used coats accepted) and school supplies, sporting equipment and games for the children in our youth programs.
Involve your neighborhood, school, religious organization or community group in your collection efforts!
**Please contact Nancy ahead of starting a collection to learn what our most pressing needs are at this time**
Have a unique skill or hobby? Bring your special talent(s) to our at-risk and homeless children by hosting an enrichment activity at our Brighter Futures After-School Mentoring Program or Summer Camp.
Say It With A Sandwich
Show you truly care by preparing sandwiches for guests at our Soup Kitchen. Takeaway sandwiches can provide evening or weekend meals when our Soup Kitchen is closed.
Love stirring up something yummy for others? Call ahead and make arrangements to bake, cook, sponsor or deliver a meal. Your efforts make a difference!
A Good Night's Sleep
When our homeless clients come to us, most have very few possessions. From the minute they enter our shelter, we aim to give our clients a fresh start, beginning with a safe, clean space to rest their heads. Help restore dignity by ensuring all of our clients are able to have brand new single bed sheets, pillow cases, blankets, towels and wash cloths.
When our clients move out of our shelters and into their new homes, many do not have the essentials. As they begin their journeys to self-sufficiency, you can help make a house a home by creating custom move-in baskets containing basic household necessities such as plates, silverware, towels, sponges, etc.
Our annual Oasis of Hope Gala may be in the spring but we are always looking for items for our Silent Auction! The items you donate will help generate funds to support our mission and restore hope to Westchester County’s men, women and children in need.
